Arboretum Bridge and Trail Project
The Arboretum Bridge and Trail will be a key route designed specifically to provide the missing passageway between the Anacostia Waterfront and the U.S. National Arboretum, which alone garners over 500,000 visitors annually. Additionally, the lighted pedestrian and bicyclist crossing will be fully ADA compliant.
The Arboretum Bridge trail segment is primarily situated on National Park Service lands creating a connection between the Arboretum and Kenilworth Park North, and adjacent neighborhoods including Mayfair, Kenilworth-Parkside and River Terrace. Slated to be completed in 2019, this segment will connect visitors and residents to the great outdoors with the Anacostia River as a stunning backdrop.
The DDOT team will collaborate with residents, ANC Commissioners, civic organization leaders and businesses to provide periodic updates on the status
of the project.
